What is the Consumers Energy Store?

  • The Consumers Energy Store is an online store that facilitates the purchase of energy-saving products and services while offering instant rebates at the point of sale for certain products.

How do I find products on the Consumers Energy Store?

  • The Consumers Energy Store currently offers a selection of the leading energy-saving products, some of which are eligible for Consumers Energy Store's residential instant rebate programs. You can view each of the available products by selecting a product category from the navigation menu and by clicking on each product for more details.

How do I review a product?

  • You can add a review of a product by clicking on the product, scrolling down to “product reviews” and clicking “write a review.”
Rebates

Which products are eligible for rebates?

  • All instant rebate amounts can differ based on your Consumers Energy account service type: electric, natural gas, or combo (electric and natural gas)
  • The service type selector in the top main navigation controls the rebate values shown across the Marketplace. You can update your service type selection at any time, on any page, prior to checking your eligibility for instant rebates.
  • Once you check your account eligibility, your account will be verified. Your verified service type will update and lock automatically so that you receive rebates that are accurate for you and your home.
  • Thermostat Energy Efficiency instant rebates
    • Regardless of your service type, customer are only eligible for one thermostat instant rebate per year.
    • Qualified electric customers are eligible for up to $50 in thermostat rebates.
    • Qualified natural gas customers are eligible for up to $50 in thermostat rebates.
    • Qualified combo (electric and natural gas) customers are eligible for up to $100 in thermostat rebates.
  • Lighting instant rebates
    • Lighting rebates are limited to 15 bulbs per year for qualified residential electric customers.
  • Peak Power SaversĀ® Smart Thermostat Program Enrollment Bonus rebates
    • The Smart Thermostat Program syncs with your smart thermostat to shift your energy use away from periods of high energy demand. This requires central A/C, device installation, and a Wi-Fi connection. Eligibility requirements and purchase limitations apply. Shipping and tax are not included and are calculated at checkout.
    • All enrollment bonus rebates have a limit of two per account.
    • Qualified electric customers are eligible for up to $75 in enrollment bonus rebates on eligible Google Nest and Emerson Sensi thermostats
    • Natural gas customers are not included in the Smart Thermostat Program at this time. Qualified gas customers can still receive thermostat rebates.
    • Qualified combo (electric and natural gas) customers are eligible for up to $75 in enrollment bonus rebates on eligible Google Nest thermostats or up to $69 on eligible Emerson Sensi thermostats.

Is everyone eligible for a rebate?

Different products have different rebate eligibility criteria, but you must first be a residential customer of Consumers Energy in the state of Michigan.   

There are many factors that affect rebate eligibility, such as customer type (Residential, Commercial…) and limits on products. Most reasons are listed below:

  • Brand new Consumers Energy customers may take up to 30 days for their rebate information to be available.
  • Customer accounts may have reached a limit on certain products and will not receive rebates beyond the designated limit.

What is the Peak Power Savers Smart Thermostat Program?

Hot days in the summer create heavy demand on the energy grid. To accommodate everyone’s electricity needs, energy providers sometimes need to turn on additional, more expensive and less efficient resources. The Smart Thermostat Program empowers you to use energy smarter, prevent high bills, and create a clean-energy future for yourself and your community — all without lifting a finger.

What is an Energy Savings Event?

Occasionally, on really hot days, we’ll schedule an Energy Savings Event. On event days, our program pre-cools your home when energy is least expensive, keeping you comfortable before, during, and after the event. We’ll always let you know when an event is scheduled (but don’t worry, your smart thermostat will handle it). Our smart technology will automatically adjust the temperature for you, but you always have control and can override automatic adjustments at any time.

What do I need to do to participate?

  1. Choose a thermostat, then check your eligibility
    • Add your thermostat to your cart, then check your Consumers Energy account eligibility for your enrollment bonus and instant rebates. If your Consumers Energy account is eligible, your discounts will be automatically applied to your cart. Just go through the checkout process to sign up and save!

  2. Perform quick-and-easy installation
    • Once your smart thermostat is installed and connected to Wi-Fi, your enrollment will be complete, and your smart thermostat will immediately begin analyzing your routine and preferred settings.

  3. Start saving energy
    • The Smart Thermostat program syncs to your thermostat to understand what keeps you comfortable and how your home uses energy. In order to ensure that you and your family are comfortable during events, program your thermostat to settings that work for you and we’ll do the rest. Remember, if you ever want to opt out of an event, you can do so on your thermostat or mobile app.

Warranty Provisions

Installation
C-Wires
  • Some thermostats require a C-Wire to power the device.
  • If you do not have a C-Wire on your existing thermostat, there are products in the market that act as an adapter (type “thermostat c-wire adapter” into your favorite search engine), or a contractor can help you install the device.
  • Make sure to check your current wiring before purchasing any thermostat, and consult the installation information shown above.

How do I track my order?

  • You will receive a tracking number for your shipment as soon as we release it to the delivery company. We cannot adjust your shipping address once your order has shipped.
  • Note: during peak seasonal and promotional periods, shipping estimates may be slightly delayed 3-5 business days. Please be on the lookout for your tracking email.

The item I bought is now on sale. Can I get a price match?

  • Because sales and promotions have strict dates set by the manufacturer, our company policy does not allow us to price match orders placed before or after the advertised sale period. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Can I cancel an order?

  • In order to get your order to you as quickly as possible, we begin processing your shipment immediately after you hit "submit". This means that unfortunately, we are unable to cancel orders for in stock items.

Why is my item on backorder?

SHIPPING

How are shipping fees calculated?

  • At this time, we offer free shipping on all orders over $49. For orders under $49, we offer $5 flat rate shipping.

When will my order be shipped?

  • Orders are typically shipped within 2-6 business days after the order is placed.

Are there any shipping restrictions?

  • Customers can ship to any location within the state of their service address. For all Nest and ecobee orders, shipping is not available to PO boxes or military bases.

Do you offer expedited shipping?

  • At this time, we do not offer expedited shipping. You will receive a tracking number as soon as we release your order for shipping so you can track its progress.

Can items from the same order be shipped to different addresses?

  • If you need deliveries to different addresses, please place a separate order for each shipping address.

Can I reroute a package that has already been sent out to me?

  • You will receive a tracking number for your shipment as soon as we release it to the delivery company. We cannot adjust your shipping address once your order has shipped.

Will you provide a shipping label for my return?

  • You will receive a shipping label when you submit your return request. A $5.00 cost for the returned shipment will be deducted from your refunded amount.

  • Once we've received your returned product and verified that the return is complete, we will issue a refund to your original payment method within two businesses days. Please note that depending on your credit card company, a refund may take 7-10 business days to appear on your statement.
